"School Song" (1924)

Similar to "The Lesley Hymn," the earliest record of the "School Song" appears in the Lesley Year Book, 1924. The "School Song" is similar to other Alma Mater songs of its day. For example, "College Hymn" (1929) was sung at Simmons College (now Simmons University).

"The School Song" appears again in the Lesleyan, 1929 and is attributed to Mrs. Stevens. We do not know much about Mrs. Stevens. She is not listed as a member of the faculty at Lesley nor is there a record of her as a student.

A new "Lesley School Song" (1937) appears in the Lesleyan, 1937. This song was written by alumna Norma Christensen, class of 1936. The notation that accompanies the Lesleyan, 1941 edition shows that the melody was based on an anthem by British composer, Gustav Holst.
