JMF: "And also I think talking with the various people at Lesley. We all had a…all the girls that I knew at Lesley were enthusiastic about being there and enthusiastic about what they were learning. I mean, we weren’t exactly what I call prudes but we did talk a lot about the work that we were doing and the work that we…and the classes that we had. And I think with all due respect to Gerty Malloch and Mrs. Wolfard was an inspiration all the time."
AP: "What made her such an inspiration?"
JMF: "Because she was a dominant figure. She was a very well preserved woman. And she like I said in my own teaching, she was always well groomed. And not outlandishly fashionable but fashionable. And when she had her assemblies, which I think she was once, more times than once a month…probably every other week, she didn’t harangue at us. She talked to us in a very motherly sort of fashion and she was determined…her
speech always ended with the future for Lesley, which has happened....She was very…Mrs. Wolfard was very sure that Lesley had a great future. And she always related it to the fact, too, that the girls that went out from Lesley as practice teachers always seemed to come back with very good recommendations. Once in a while we would get a lecture on somebody but mostly she was giving us a boost."
