AP: "Yeah what did that mean, to be a lady?"
BHD: "I'm not quite sure, all I know is that my mother taught. She became engaged to my father, it had to be a secret. When she married him, it had to be a secret because you could not be married and be a teacher. So they didn't live together full-time for several years because she needed to have that job, and she couldn't have that job if they knew she was married. That's how it was some thirty years before."
JRR: "Well when I was teaching at the Kings school...I was pregnant with Vicki. I got married in 1968 and Vicki was born in 71, and I told my principal. And John said to me...well wear a kiltching (?) and you can work up until you show, and that will probably be a month before. Otherwise you have to retire four month...after four months of pregnancy or five months of pregnancy."
BHD: "So PS you just didn't tell. I had the same thing...your job would have been over and then you would have to re-apply."
